Okay, I’ve been really slack the last month. But more positively, and perhaps more importantly, my book is finally coming along at about 14,000 words. Only 70,000 words or so to go. *Deep breath. Speaking of books, I’ve also been gorging myself silly on some really amazing reads the past couple of weeks.
Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere is a truly creative and imaginative, modern science fiction that I thoroughly enjoyed; Lee Child still has my pulse racing with his crime/thriller genre, and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, (which I know people either love or hate), I happen to really, really love. Her characters are so vulnerable, and so raw, and it was love at first sight for me and this effervescent vampire clan. I would count myself extremely lucky if I could write bestsellers like that.
I think I’ve finally accepted the fact (thanks to my husband constantly pointing it out to me), that I’m a bonafide nerd. Yes, I shall now embrace that assessment full-on, spectacles, messy hair and all. If I could, I’d spend all day, everyday, buried in books. A personality trait that had my parents forking out thousands of dollars on hundreds of novels all through my childhood and teens. I think my mum is secretly glad that she’s no longer responsible for supporting my reading habits.
Nevertheless, my love for the written word will remain at the core of my existence, and I only hope that love will translate into something more meaningful, that the rest of the world can share in, one day. Please cross your fingers for me.
On a separate note, can anyone recommend some other books for my nearly-packed bookshelf? I am currently reading Tony Parson's My favourite wife, but I'll need more sustenance soon.

Tom Raider by Megan Fox - not sure yet.
These days, I find myself enjoying the tuck in bed with a book more than painting the town red too! Currently reading Graham Swift's - Tomorrow. I have stacks of books I bought from a bookfair before I left for LHope now waiting to be read.
Ahh.. but if only i could read just half as fast as you, then i'll be able to finish a quarter of your yearly accomplishment :p
Have you read Truman Capote?
